Mr. McLaughlin is a tenured professor at The Haub School of Law at Pace University. He is also co-chair of the Civil Rights Practice Group at Newman Ferrara LLP, a New York City-based litigation firm. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and began his civil rights practice at the Center for Constitutional Rights. Mr. McLaughlin was the lead attorney in the Chattanooga 5 case against the KKK. He pioneered the strategy of suing the Klan in federal court using the KKK Act of 1871. He has extensive knowledge of the history of the civil rights movement, Reconstruction and the fight against racially motivated violence.
