"an excellent, enlightening short documentary"

"The screening of "Baseball Behind Barbed Wire" and conversation with the filmmaker Yuriko Gamo Ramer was a highlight of our year. This important story about oppression and resilience, and the power of community and of play, is incredibly relevant in today's climate. Attempts to dehumanize Japanese Americans and immigrants during the second world war, stripping them of their liberty and rights, grew from the fear, anger, and racial bias endorsed by political leaders. And Yuriko's thoughtful telling of how and why she made this documentary, as well as her insightful and genuine responses to questions from the audience, made the screening a memorable experience for everyone in the room. Highly recommend this unique and timely experience."
