Cecilia Aldarondo is Assistant Professor of Film Studies at Skidmore College. She holds an MA from Goldsmiths College and a PhD from the University of Minnesota. As an interdisciplinary filmmaker and scholar, she gives talks on the Latinx experience, the aftermath of AIDS, LGBT acceptance and stigma, family conflict and resolution, and archival memory. Her personal film MEMORIES OF A PENITENT HEART is a co-production of Latino Public Broadcasting, ITVS, and the Sundance Institute. Cecilia Aldarondo was the inaugural recipient of the Roberto Guerra Documentary Award in 2015, and has been named by Filmmaker Magazine as one of 2015’s ‘25 New Faces of Independent Film.’ Some of her notable appearances include the 'Identity and Representation in the Obama Era' Screening Series at Yale University, 'Telling Impossible Stories' at the University of Central Florida, the 'Ending the AIDS Epidemic Conference' at the New York Department of Health, and a special World AIDS Day Screening and Panel at Mt. Sinai West Hospital.
